For the presentation of my monography „Im Bett mit Mark Divo“ I reserved a room in the off-space “Perla-moden” on Langstrasse for one weekend in June of 2012. However, as it soon became apparent that the publication would take significantly longer, and concomitantly an opportunity arose to rent the entire centrally located art space for two weeks, I decided to reschedule the Dada festival weeks for the summer. Thus we were able to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Croesus Foundation with the 7th Dada festival weeks under the slogan “Cabaret Vulgaire” in a space with huge storefront windows facing Zurich’s lively red light main drag.

The majority of invited visual artists, performers and music groups from the Czech Republic highlighted the vibrant art scene in a country where there are neither collectors nor sponsors, next to an exhibition of drawings by Prague artists in the adjacent off-space Wäscherei (Laundry).

At the opening ceremony Pastor Leumund, together with Friedrich Greiling as Antibiotika, agitated a rapturous congregation with a danceable firebrand sermon. In the basement Mickry 3 offered a photo shooting session with their puke trajectory sculptures, whilst on the ground floor performance artist David Helan vacuum-cleaned the sidewalk amidst junkies and prostitutes. The busiest night was the Chaos Stage by Ajana Dracula, where, in the truest Dadaist tradition, everyone came together, from an exhibitionist creating paintings with his penis, to a photo model reciting Lord Byron, to a homeless piano virtuoso. For the grand finale of the festival weeks the Binz activist August Blum dropped his 5 meter high swastika sculpture, crashing from the roof onto the Langstrasse sidewalk.
