Curatorial Projects

For over 25 years I have been working all over the world, as art mediator, activist, artist and concert organizer  I started off promoting art and culture by inviting my fellow classmates to small clandestine events that took place in my room at the german boarding school I was placed in.Later on in life I realized my first shows in squatted houses in Berlin in the early 90.One of the more known projects I was involved in there, was the „Kunsthaus Tacheles“.After returning to Zürich  I helped to initiate and run, various art projects and cultural squats  in Zurich, including the Wohlgroth Areal (1992-1994), the „Glacegarten“ (1999) and also the repurposing  of the shilpapierfbrik in 2003, which was the largest cultural squat ever in Switzerland.Appart from that I have organized and curated many cross-disciplinary cultural festivals  since 1994, among many, the legendary three-week Eurokot Festival that took place in 1995 in the abandoned Escher-Wyss underpass and the six-week revival of the historic Cabaret Voltaire on Spiegelgasse in 2002. This intervention led to city of Zürich complying with our demands for the preservation of the birthplace of Dadaism, and to the transformation of the space into a city funded regular boring museum. Between 2002 and 2014 I organized the so called „international Dadafestwochen“ at regular intervals, which took place in Zurich, Kolin and Basel. Many of these events took place outside the conventional cultural framework, but in addition to all the wonderful, illegal, self-initiated projects, I have also repeatedly organized concerts and events within state funded institutions and museums; for example at the Kunsthalle Friedricianum in Kassel, the Rote Fabrik in Zurich, the Prague National Gallery Veletrizni Palace in Prague, the CAN in Neuchatel and many places more. I am partially based in the Czech Republic since 2005, and in 2007  I founded  the off-space named „d.i.v.o.-institute“ in a victorian villa in the small Czech industrial town of Kolin, 50 km from Prague. Many concerts workshops and exhibitions took place here from 2008 until 2016.Since 2013 I have been running the art space “the solution” in Prague. The gallery started off as „the solution from Zürich“,which was based in a spacious 19th century flat in ve smetkach, Prague 1.From 2014-2015, this project was based in a shop in Krymska, Prague 10, and from 2016 until 2018 the space was also know as „dadaistisches Seminar“and was located in a small shop in Bojivoiova,  Prague 3.Numerous concerts and exhibitions with international and local visual artists and performers were organized by me and my team in these locations .Currently the gallery is based in my apartment, in the posh district of Vinohrady in Prague 2.
